Mining guide by incubusking & Shadowgate

Introduction

Mining is one of the main resource gathering skills in Syrnia. The ores you mine are used in Smithing to create the various tools, armour and weapons in the game. Ores, especially high level ones, will always be in demand by the various smiths of Syrnia, so there is money to be made here. 

While mining, there is chance that you can find a gem, which can be used in Magic for enchantments and orbs. As with all other resource gathering skills crowding influences your timer. For every additional person working alongside you, it adds 2 seconds onto your timer. This crowding penalty maxes out at 15 people working along beside you, so at 30 additional seconds.

 Level 1-10

To begin mining you will need to equip a pickaxe (Ogre and Bronze pickaxes are available at level 1) and click on mine tin or copper. Most people mine at Rynir Mines but there is also the tin mine at Nabb Mines, which is rarely as crowded so if you are looking for experience this might be a better option. It will take 215 copper or tin ores to make it to level 10 and Iron mining.

 Level 10-25

Once you have reached level 10, you can mine Iron ore and equip an Iron Pickaxe. There are plenty of Iron mines in Syrnia so you are spoilt for choice of location to mine at. My only suggestion is that you look for a good quiet Iron mine and start mining there. You will level a lot quicker if there is little or no crowding where you are mining. It will take you 3,494 Iron to reach level 25 and Coal mining.

 Level 25-40

At level 25 you can mine coal. Coal is quite valuable as it can be smelted with different ores into Steel, Platina or Syriet bars, as well as be used for Pirate Invasions. So if you are looking for some gp, mining coal is a great way to go! There are currently 6 Coal mining locations that you can choose from. Try and find a quiet mining spot and you will level up quickly. Mt. Vertor on Kanzo is probably the quietest, but you'll need an orb to get there and back. At level 30 and and 35 the Koban and Elven pickaxes will become available to you. These are slightly better than a steel pickaxe, so try and get your hands on one of these! You will need 9,089 Coal to reach level 40 mining. 

 Level 40-55

At level 40 you are able to mine Silver and equip a Silver Pickaxe. There are only 2 Silver Mines in the game, one in Franer Mines, Mezno Island and one at Rose Mines, Serpenthelm Island. Again, find the one with the least crowding. You will need to mine 14,266 silver ore or 23,134 coal ore to reach level 55 mining.

 Level 55-70

At level 55 you unlock the option to mine Gold ore and equip a Gold Pickaxe. The exp for mining gold is far superior to mining Silver and Coal, however your timer has risen as well. There are 2 fixed gold mines in Syrnia. One at Ogre Mines and Mount Tirnus. Getting to Ogre Mines will be a bit more difficult, as you'll need to cross the outlands or use a PTO but may have slightly less crowding than Mount Tirnus. Again, mine at the one with the lowest crowding. You will need to mine 10,919 gold ore to reach level 70.

 Level 70-85

This is where mining becomes a bit more complicated. There are only two permanent Platina mines in the game. One in Outlands 78 and one in Abydos, Anasco Island. As the Outlands is a PvP area, there is always a chance of dying while mining. While the Abydos mine isn't in a PvP area, the timer is 1.5x longer than the Outlands timer and no gems can be obtained. The exp rate at Abydos is very low, and not recommended. For exp, the Outlands mine is your best bet, but you may want to increase your combat level before venturing out there. Making some allies in the Outlands would also be a good idea. Do note, that at level 70, your OL timer is around 5 minutes. You will have to go 5 minutes without dying to get any reward of exp. If you can get your hands on a Mining Scroll, then you will be able to mine Platina at Mount Tirnus on Wednesdays. This is highly recommended as it is not a PvP area. If you are unable to mine Platina at Mount Tirnus or comfortably afk at Outlands, then staying at a gold mine (either Ogre Mines or Mount Tirnus) is your best bet. You will need  to mine 18,666 gold ore or 9,333 platina ore to reach mining level 85. 

 Level 85-100

From level 85 you can mine Syriet ore. Syriet has drastically gone down in value, but due to the big exp jump from platina, is still your best bet if exp is your main aim. There are four ways to obtain it. The first way is via random spawn mines at Arch. caves 4 and Arch. caves 5. Spawn rates are slow, so this won't be a viable way to gain exp. The second way is as a rare random drop from the permanent Platina mine at Abydos, Anasco island. As mentioned, due to the very large timer, this is not recommended. The biggest resource of Syriet ore is the permanent mine at Outlands 49. This is by far the best exp rate, although you will need a high CL to compete with the rest. If you have a Mining Scroll, then Syriet will also be available to mine at Mount Tirnus on Tuesdays. As with Platina, if you are unable to mine in OL or Mount Tirnus, then staying at a gold mine is the next best way. To reach level 100, you will have to mine another 29,039 gold ore, or spend an extraordinary amount of time in the Outlands (or the safe mine at Mount Tirnus) and mine 4,501 syriet ore.

 Level 100-120

At level 100, you will gain the ability to mine Obsidian. Obsidian has also lost its value, but is still worth it for the exp. Similar to Syriet, it can be obtained via random Arch spawns, random drops from Abydos, or from Outlands 66. If are able to, mining Obsidian in the Outlands is the best for exp. Otherwise, you will have to find a Mining Scroll to mine at Mount Tirnus, or stay with mining gold. You will need to mine another 59,853 gold ore or 3,093 obsidian ore.

 Level 120-140

You can now mine Puranium! Unlike Syriet or Obsidian, Puranium is quite valuable so try and gets your hands on some! Puranium however can only be found in Arch. Caves 5, where it spawns occasionally. Only very few of these ores spawn at a time, so it will be a challenge to obtain this ore. If exp is your aim, it will be best to stay mining in The Outlands. Continuing to mine Syriet on Tuesdays and Platina on Wednesdays at Mount Tirnus is also a good idea. If all else fails, sticking to a gold mine will be your next best bet. You will need to mine 90,860 gold ore or 4,695 obsidian ore to reach level 140.

 Level 140+

Congratulations, you have reached the highest ore in the game! Titanium ore is very valuable, but it will be quite difficult getting your hands on any! They can only be obtained as random ore spawns in Arch. 5, and their spawns are quite rare, so you'll have to keep a constant eye out for them! If levels are your aim, then continuing with the previous strategy of mining at Outlands, Mount Tirnus or Gold Mines is the way to go. If mining platina, at around level 155 (for The Outlands and Mount Tirnus) you will reach a minimum timer of 90 seconds . Due to game mechanics, this timer of 90 seconds will remain until you reach level 170, where it will start to decrease again. This results in gold actually having a higher xp/hour rate, and you'll find yourself jumping between ores as you level up. Platina's final minimum timer of 29 seconds is reached at level 231.

TLDR:

Mine Syriet on Tuesdays and Platina on Wednesdays at Mount Tirnus. If you can, mine the best available ore in The Outlands. Otherwise, stick to gold mining until level 200, when platina mining at Abydos becomes better.
