Love Letter To Lady Luna

Walkthrough

Travel to Bidou Docks on Calmere Island. Click on 'Walk the Docks' in the city menu. (This quest can only start in the Syrnian day)

As you drift along the docks and focus on the few fishermen fondly fixated on their fishy fancies, you find yourself face-to-face with a fairly fidgety fellow.

Fracturing the alliteration, you decide to enquire as to why this fisherman appears to be so nervous and sweaty.

Fidgety Man: Forgive me. I haven't been able to focus on anything today because I just can't stop thinking about her...

At this, the man ceases speaking and stares off into the distance at what seems to be a barrel near the far end of the dock. After a few moments, you clear your throat, subsequently cracking his trance.

Fidgety Man: Ah--mhm... yep, there you go again, Quank. Okay, so I met a woman along the docks last night, and boy-oh-boy has s-she taken over my every waking thought. S-She told me that her name is Luna and that she likes to walk along the harbor at night and enjoy the moon reflecting off the face of the ocean. Oh, Luna... how I long for the lovely, light-grey texture of her face, showing the many tiny craters and simply perfect imperfections. And that absolutely celestial body... how exquisite. She positively glows, as if she reflects the sun itself. I...

He pauses as if realizing a mistake in his words.

Quank: Oh, um, okay... s-so I now realize how this sounds. I s-swear to you that she was real! I only drank a little that evening! She was real, and I can prove it to you! The real reason I'm so off today is due to the fact that I wrote her a letter proclaiming my love for her before realizing that there is no way that I could ever work up the nerve to actually give it to her. I'm a total wreck...

He starts to choke up, but then a few moments later, he recovers with a start.

Quank: But... wait! Maybe you could help me. Yes! You could take this letter and give it to her for me tonight at the docks. I know that I'm a complete stranger to you and this is a bit of an outlandish request, but I would be over the moon if you could help me out for the s-simple reason that we are fellow S-syrnians.

Click 'Well... I suppose I could meet her for you.'

Quank: Oh, thank you so very much, my friend! I wish I had something more to give you but my gratitude, but rest easily knowing that you are coordinating the eternal convergence of two souls!

Quank hands you a love letter, mildly damp from his perspiration. Bring this letter to Luna at Bidou docks during nighttime.

You walk out onto the docks and scan the surroundings. The moon is reflecting brightly across the expanse of sea stretching before you, and the waters are still. It appears that you are alone on the docks. The worry that had started in the back of your mind has now crept to the forefront. Had Quank simply drunk one-too-many elven cocktails and "fallen in love" with the moon, somehow convincing himself that "she" was a real woman?

As you contemplate this and stare at the moon's reflection, you hear a slight "Oh" from behind you. You startle slightly at the noise and turn around to see a young woman, who has just arrived at the harbor. If you didn't know any better, you might have thought that the waters appeared to recede slightly upon her appearance.

Young Woman: Hello. I hadn't expected to see anyone out here this late. This area is so alluring at night. Who might you be?

You confirm that she is, indeed, the Lady Luna with whom Quank had been ever so smitten, and you explain the situation. She giggles fondly as she remembers the encounter she'd had with him before, which seems to be a point in his favor.

She takes a few moments to read over the letter and stifles a laugh.

Lady Luna: He's, uh... well, he's not exactly a poet. But he appears more than genuine. I'll have to pay him a visit in the morning. I surmise that would mean the moon to him. Now, I have a favor to ask of you. Would you simply keep me company for a few minutes and enjoy the night sea?

You agree, and you stand silently with Lady Luna for a time, watching the reflection of the moon and listening to the rythmic sounds of water softly washing against the docks. Before too long, you awaken, not remembering having dozed off against the dock railing. You turn to bid farewell to Lady Luna before realizing that she is no longer there. Where she had been standing, you notice a small, dark mass on the ground. Upon picking it up, you recognize the familiar shape and texture.
